Job Description
The ideal candidate is a ninja and jack-of-all-trades, able to seamlessly transition from deployment, management and troubleshooting Linux and Windows systems to planning, deploying, securing and maintaining resilient, high-performance and complex public and private networks.
Responsibilities
- Perform ongoing network administration duties in support of our IaaS environment
- Support system engineering requests as well as engineering, deploying and maintaining processes/applications that are new to the environment
- Provide network administrative support for development, deployment and problem identification
- Architecting, building and maintaining processes and software that improve the overall performance of our IaaS cloud infrastructure
- Develop and implement migration plans and coordinate redesign efforts
- Design and implement monitoring processes to track and visualize service capacity
- Application performance optimization functions
- Security management via office firewall (Sonicwall/ForceOS)
- Ensuring high-service levels, such as DNS & DHCP
- Work closely with front-end and back-end developers
Qualifications
- Strong working experience deploying, configuring and managing Linux server environments (kernel, processes, tracing, monitoring)
- Strong working experience deploying, configuring and managing Windows Server environments
- Strong knowledge of virtualization (KVM, XEN)
- Experience with configuration automation (ie. shell scripting, python) and monitoring services (SNMP)
- Very strong experience debugging, diagnosing and resolving server and network issues
- Deep knowledge of Layer 2/3 network services
- Strong background in security and the ability to identify OS & network level vulnerabilities
- Experience working with cPanel/WHM/CloudLinux preferred
- Experience working with PCI Compliance, database administration (PostgreSQL, MySQL) preferred
- Independent, multi-tasking and strong problem solving skills
Pluses
- Managerial experience
- Bachelors degree (or higher) in Management of Information Systems, Computer Science or related fields
- 3-5+ years as a Sys Admin with focus on online and mobile services
- 2-4+ years experience with the Microsoft Server Operating System
- 2-4+ years experience with scripting languages
- 3+ years in a DevOps role (highly desirable)
- 2+ years with supporting enterprise or production environment monitoring and alerting platforms
